POFC was founded in Science-based Industrial Park of Hsinchu, Taiwan in 1991 by Dr. Hen-Tai Shang, a well acknowledged scientist in photonics at AT&T Bell Labs. Given the sole manufacturer of optical fiber and preform in
Taiwan, POFC is also recognized by its leading technologies in fiber laser and fiber sensor.
POFC undertakes a major reorganization in 2008 after a majority of outstanding shares being acquired by Singapore-based Blackhorse Asset Management (BAM). With financial supports, BAM will advance POFC business to next level where optical fiber provides data transfer in all PC-centric peripherals. POFC will operate a new business model to provide optical connectivity products and solutions to end customers.
